At the time, I was slightly ashamed, but it turned out to be for the best. There's a bit of a stigma attached to those who don't follow through on their education, but in the art world, a degree itself often isn't worth the paper it's printed on. In my relatively short career, I've never once been asked if I attended college or even if I have a degree, and I'm not the only one who'll tell you that. Your portfolio and experience are what speaks for you. You can finish art school, but if your portfolio is no good, the jobs won’t come.
Today, because I chose this route, I’m debt free and I've worked for companies like Lionsgate, Warner Bros. and the Moving Picture Company, opportunities I might not have had if I stayed in school. Now, I'm not saying don't pursue a college e
